It was May 30, 1991, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A 14-year-old boy wandered the street. He was naked and bleeding. He had been drugged and seemed out of it. Two young women saw him and called 911. Jeffrey Dahmer, age 31, ran down the street after him. He tried to take the boy away but the women stopped him. Soon the police arrived, Dahmer told them the boy was 19 and he was his boyfriend, the police laughed. “We reunited the lovers,” they joked, and made other homophobic comments. They thought it was just a lovers’ fight so they let Jeffrey Dahmer take the drugged boy away with him.
Soon the boy was dead, he was Dahmer’s 12th victim. Dahmer kept the boy’s school.
Later police remembered a strange smell in Dahmer’s apartment. But they didn’t do anything about it, the smell was from the rotting body on Anthony Hughes, his corpse was in the bedroom but the police didn’t go in there.
