“When Richard Ramirez was arrested on August 25, 1985, a bizarre story involving Satanism and cult worship began to emerge,” The History Channel noted. Ramirez was a serial killer who boasted of Satanic loyalties and displayed a pentagram symbol on his hand. Ramirez read The Satanic Bible by Anton LaVey in the summer of 1978. He believed that Satan protected him during his home invasions. It would be hard to pinpoint exactly what influences sent Richard Ramirez in the direction of sevil worship. He often drew a five-poit pentagram, the symbol of the devil, on his own body, and at his trial he would shout, “Hail Satan!” in open court. His terrified victims would be forced to promise Ramirez that they had turned over all of their valuables to him, and he’d make them say, “I swear to Satan.” “Swear upon Satan that you won’t scream for help,” he told one victim. After killing one woman’s husband Ramirez forced her to swear allegiance to Satan. In one case Ramirez forced a woman to declare her love for Satan. Ramirez forced at least four females to swear to Satan. Ramirez also drew pentagrams on the body of Mabel Bell and on her bedroom walls. Another study concurred adding that “Ramirez violently beat them and then scratched Satanic symols over them, and their house.”
